Odisha will observe the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign from August 9 to 17 as part of its Independence Day festivities, with rallies, cultural programs, and public engagement events scheduled around the state.
The campaign will be carried out from the state capital to the block and panchayat levels, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi leading the way. The state administration has also made plans to guarantee that national flags are available across all districts.
The Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department has allocated Rs 10 lakh to each district to ensure the smooth implementation of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ program.
A state-level ‘Tiranga Rally’ will be organized in Bhubaneswar on August 9 in collaboration with the Sports and Youth Services Department. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will attend the rally.
The rally will start from Hatiasuni Ground and move toward Lumbini Vihar Road. Patriotic songs and the national anthem will be performed, along with cultural programs.
The gathering will include government leaders, youth, members of voluntary organizations, athletes, students, NCC cadets, and NSS volunteers, among others. Similar Tiranga rallies will be held at the district level.
As part of the program, women’s self-help groups affiliated with the state government’s Mission Shakti Department would make around 60 lakh national flags.
The flags will be distributed throughout all districts to urge people to hoist the Tricolour at their houses and participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
The state-level Partition Horrors Remembrance Day will be held on August 14 at Jayadev Bhawan in cooperation with the Odisha Sahitya Akademi. Similar programs will be held in each district.
The state-level event will include a photo exhibition, a screening of short films, and a drama based on Partition memories and experiences. Families affected by the partition will be invited to share their stories and congratulated.
At the end of the presentation, visitors and members of the public will join in a silent procession.
The state-level Independence Day event will take place on August 15 in collaboration with the Information and Public Relations Department.
The Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi will host a patriotic music concert called ‘Bharatiyam’ at Rabindra Mandap. A special concert will also be staged to mark the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’.
The attractions will include sand painting, a big rangoli exhibition, and a ‘Selfie with Tiranga’ booth.
From August 9 to 17, individuals can take selfies with the Tricolor and upload them to the Har Ghar Tiranga website to receive digital certificates.
An online quiz competition will also be organised through the MyGov portal. School and college students will be encouraged to participate in the campaign and take part in the online quiz.
The state government has appealed to private organisations, voluntary groups, NGOs and citizens across Odisha to participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and help make the initiative a success.
