On Thursday, the weather in Odisha changed after three days of intense rain. The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional center here forecast that, notwithstanding the heavy fog that enveloped the twin towns of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack this morning, most of the state will likely see daytime temperatures rise by 8°C to 10°C over the course of the next week.
By the end of March, the weather office predicts that some coastal and interior regions of Odisha could have daytime highs of temperature up to 40°C. It further said that there might be rain and thunder today in the districts of Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, and Gajapati.
Although the past 72 hours of nonstop rain have significantly lowered the temperature, several areas of western Odisha, such Boudh and Titlagarh, are probably going to see the state’s highest temperature in the coming days. In the upcoming days, the maximum temperature in a few districts, including Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Bolangir, Rayagada, and Malkangiri, can reach 38°C or 39°C throughout the day.
In much of Odisha, the minimum temperatures (nighttime temperatures) could rise by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius during the course of the next week.
