The hottest places in Odisha over the past 24 hours were Jharsuguda and Malkangiri, with 38°C high day temperatures. Phulbani and Bhawanipatna, with 37.5°C high day temperatures, came next. However, Angul recorded the state’s lowest maximum temperature of 18°C, according to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional office here on Tuesday.
On Monday, the daytime maximum temperature reached 37°C or above in 13 locations around the state.
By the first week of April, the weather service has warned that daytime temperatures in a number of Odisha locations could reach or above 40°C. The highest temperatures will steadily increase by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius starting on March 29 and will stay above average.
Most parts of the state are currently experiencing dry weather. However, several places in north Odisha may experience rain and thunderstorms today. Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, and Jajpur may experience light rain today.
