Because of the ongoing high-pressure system, moderate to heavy rainfall has been falling since late Sunday night in the capital city of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, certain interior districts, and south coastal Odisha, all in the midst of dense fog.
The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional center here predicts that the rainfall activity will probably last until January 25 at the latest, at which point the weather will shift. It’s expected to rain today in a number of Odisha locations, including Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh.
Rain and gloomy conditions caused major disruptions to daily activities and several degrees of temperature drops in several regions of the state. There was a significant reduction in visibility, which affected traffic.
The change in the weather conditions has intensified the winter cold once again.
Meanwhile, the mercury dropped appreciably in several places across the state due to rain. Kirei was the coldest place in the state recording a minimum temperature of 8.7°C, followed by Koraput at (10.1°C), Jharsuguda at (10.6°C), Rourkela at (10.8°C), Baripada at (11.6°C), Keonjhar (11.8°C), and Sundargarh (12.2°C).
According to the weather office, the area in Dhenkanal that had the most rainfall, Hindol, received 47 mm. Bhuban, Paradip, Ghasipura, and Soro followed with 27 mm, 15.9 mm, and 15.3 mm, respectively.
