Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unwavering energy and dedication to the country were once again demonstrated during the highly successful 18th BRICS Summit, which India hosted at New Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam. In addition to attending and speaking at the summit sessions, Modi also held up to 15 sit-down bilateral meetings with the visiting heads of state and government from Friday until late Sunday afternoon.
In addition to the BRICS sessions and the Outreach/BRICS Plus Dialog portion of the summit, there were other pull-aside discussions with different world leaders and leaders of international organizations.
At the Bharat Mandapam on Friday afternoon, Prime Minister Modi met with Russian President Vladimir Putin to start the diplomatic sprint.
The same evening, it was followed by bilateral meetings with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
At the Hyderabad House on Saturday, Prime Minister Modi hosted Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali for bilateral talks.
Meetings with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of Malaysia, Crown Prince Sheik Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi, and Prime Minister Le Minh Hung of Vietnam were next.
When the leaders of the BRICS nations arrived at Bharat Mandapam to attend the meeting, Prime Minister Modi greeted them.
PM Modi then spoke at a closed session on “Inclusive Global Governance and Strengthening Multilateralism.”
PM Modi then attended the ‘Bharat Innovates’ exhibition with BRICS leaders, took part in the customary family photo session, and planted trees with the leaders on the lawns of Bharat Mandapam.
The next engagement for PM Modi was an important bilateral with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The day concluded with the Prime Minister giving a gala supper for the visiting leaders at the same location.
On Sunday, PM Modi met with the leaders of BRICS Partner Countries and Outreach Invitees and took part in a family photo session before speaking at the summit hall about ‘Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability: Shaping the Future for Inclusive Global Growth’.
Back-to-back bilateral meetings followed next for PM Modi as he met Kazakhstan Prime Minister Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Philippines President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa, Burundi President Evariste Ndayishimiye, Nigeria Vice-President Kashim Shettima and Uganda V-P Jessica Alupo at the Bharat Mandapam.
In between the bilateral sit-downs, PM Modi also had crucial discussions with the participating leaders and heads of several institutions who participated in various BRICS meetings.
