On Saturday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated a long-awaited bridge over the Ardei Nullah in Bodapalasa Gram Panchayat under Keonjhar Sadar, meeting a key demand of local inhabitants.
The bridge, which spans 100 metres, was built to alleviate traffic issues for residents of the area and the five panchayats that surround it. After completion, more than 5,000 residents are expected to benefit from enhanced daily connectivity.
The Chief Minister dedicated the bridge to the public, saying it will ease long-standing travel challenges and open up new opportunities for development in the region. He emphasized that the infrastructure will give Bodapalasa Gram Panchayat a new identity and improve connection in Keonjhar Sadar.
The Prime Minister’s direct contact energized the audience on the roadside, raising the level of their slogans.
Raju Bista, a two-time Lok Sabha member from the Darjeeling constituency for the BJP, posted a video of the road show on his social media account, saying that the crowd’s enthusiasm demonstrated that PM Narendra Modi is one of the most popular world leaders.
He went on to say that throughout India, particularly in the Darjeeling hills, Terai, and Dooars, he is regarded as a guardian.
“Today in Siliguri, thousands of people lined up to welcome him to our beautiful region. He obliged by greeting the people in person. What an extraordinary sight it is to see so much love and respect for our beloved PM, and him reciprocating that love by meeting the people in person spontaneously,” Bista said.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister spoke at three campaign rallies: the first in Katwa, East Burdwan, the second in Jangipur, Murshidabad, and the third in Kushmandi, South Dinajpur district.
The West Bengal Assembly elections will be held in two phases, on April 23 and April 29.
The results will be announced on May 4.
