Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again emerged as the most popular democratic leader in the world, topping the latest ‘Democratic Leader Approval Ratings’ provided by US-based intelligence firm Morning Consult. With a remarkable 75% approval rating, PM Modi remains the public opinion leader on the international stage.
PM Modi is trailed by freshly elected South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, who received 59% approval and is second on the global leaderboard. In comparison, US President Donald Trump, who returned to office last year, scored ninth with a 44% approval rating.
The data, collected between July 4 and July 10, 2025, is based on the opinions of thousands of adults from numerous democratic nations. Morning Consult uses a rolling seven-day average technique to deliver real-time insights into global leadership mood.
According to the survey, three out of every four respondents worldwide had a positive opinion of PM Modi, reinforcing his reputation as a globally admired leader. Only 18% disapproved, with 7% remaining neutral or undecided.
PM Modi, who began his third consecutive term in May 2024, has maintained his popularity not only in India but also on the international stage. Analysts credit the sustained approval to a combination of economic resilience, diplomatic engagement, and domestic welfare initiatives.
Despite having just been in office for a month, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung has received widespread support from his country’s inhabitants. While 29% disapproved of his leadership, a large majority of South Koreans had already supported his administration approach, according to the survey.
This is not the first time PM Modi has topped the worldwide charts. Since September 2021, he has consistently topped the Morning Consult rankings, with approval ratings ranging from 70% to 76%, outperforming other democratic leaders.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi became India’s second-longest-serving Prime Minister (4,078 days) in successive terms on Friday, breaking the record set by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi (4,077 days).
PM Narendra Modi, 74, took his first oath as Prime Minister on May 26, 2014, and has served 11 years and 60 days in office to date.
Indira Gandhi, the former Prime Minister, served 11 years and 59 days in office in consecutive terms. She served as Prime Minister of India from January 24, 1966, to March 24, 1977.
