Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra 2021 : One of the greatest festivals in India, the Rath Yatra for Lord Jagannath is commencing on Monday. Held at one of the Char Dhams – Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, – the festival is among the most famous Vaishnavite rituals in India and abroad.
The annual Ratha Jatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra is underway in Odisha’s Puri city.
However, while usually tourists throng the temple premises during the festival, this year, because of the coronavirus restrictions, no devotees are allowed during the a lot awaited Rath Yatra, even as Lord Jagannath is the one of the principal deities in the state of Odisha.

The Pahandi Bije of Lord Balabhadra started around 7.15 AM, Devi Subhadra around 7.25 AM and that of Lord Jagannath around 7.35 AM as the servitors escorted the idols of the deities from Ratna Bedi to their respective chariots– Taladhwaja, Darpadalana and Nandighosa– in a ceremonial procession.
Chhera Pahanra ritual on Taladhwaja, Nandighosa and Darpadalana chariots concluded at 11.45 AM. It was scheduled to be held between 12.45 PM and 2 PM.
As per tradition, the first chariot which moves is Taldwaja, the chariot of Lord Balabhadra. Then Darpadalana, the chariot of Goddess Subhadra and last comes Nandighosa, the chariot of Lord Jagannath.
Pulling of chariot started at 12.08 PM while it was scheduled to start at 3 PM.
