Rohit Sharma, India’s Test and ODI captain, announced his retirement from Test cricket on Wednesday, after already retiring from the T20I format. He announced his retirement ahead of India’s trip of England, which includes five Tests.

Rohit Sharma, also known as the Hit-Man, announced his retirement from Test cricket on Instagram, although he reaffirmed that he will continue to play for India in ODIs.

Hello everyone I would just like to share that I am retiring from Test Cricket. It’s been an absolute honour to represent my country in whites. Thank you for all the love and support over the years. I will continue to represent India in the ODI format,” Sharma said in a post on Instagram.

Till date, Sharma has played 67 Test matches and has scored 4301 runs with 12 hundreds and 18 half centuries. He has an average of 40.57.

In his 11-year career in the longest format, Rohit has played 67 Test matches, of which he has captained 24 matches, and has scored 4301 runs with 12 hundreds and 18 half centuries. He has an average of 40.57.

It should be remembered here that Rohit Sharma retired from the T20I format shortly after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup.
