In Phase 2 of the Khelo India Women’s Weightlifting tournament here on Wednesday, the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) won the senior women’s category, while Maharashtra won the junior women’s and youth girls categories.
Several national records were set during the tournament, which concluded on Wednesday. The tournament was divided into three age groups: Senior, Junior, and Youth.
Weightlifters from the Target Olympic Podium Scheme as well as the Khelo India scholarship scheme competed in the tournament. Akanksha Vyavahare, Bhawana, Martina Devi, Yogita Khedkar, and Kalpana Yadav created the National Records.
On a point basis, the three best lifters in the tournament were as follows: Komal Johar (Senior Women), Sanju Devi (Junior Women) and Akanksha Vyavahare (Youth Girls).
The total amount of support provided by the Government of India to run the Khelo India league across all editions is Rs 1.88 Crore, which includes a total cash prize of Rs 48.3 Lakh to the top eight ranked weightlifters across 10 weight categories across all age groups.
