Stock market close highlights today, Thursday, September 25, 2025: Bears tightened the noose around equities in the final hour on Dalal Street, bringing benchmark indices up to 0.68 percent lower on Thursday.
The BSE Sensex index closed at 81,160, down 556 points, while the Nifty50 finished at 24,891, down 166 points.
The top Sensex losers included Power Grid, Tata Motors, Trent, TCS, Asian Paints, NTPC, Adani Ports, Bajaj Finserv, HCL Tech, Titan, M&M, Bajaj Finance, L&T, Eternal, Reliance Industries, and Kotak Bank, which fell up to 3%.
Shriram Finance, Adani Enterprises, Dr Reddy’s Labs, Cipla, Jio Financial Services, and Grasim Industries were also among those who lost money on the Nifty50.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap index fell 0.64 percent, while the Nifty SmallCap fell 0.57 percent.
The Nifty Realty index was the worst performer among sectors for the second day in a row, falling 1.65%. The Nifty Auto index, too, fell 0.9 percent.
The Nifty Metal index was the only gainer, up 0.22%.
