Sensex today | Stock Market Highlights today, Wednesday, February 18, 2026: On Wednesday, Indian equity markets produced another late-afternoon bounce, extending gains for the third straight session, supported by metal and PSU bank equities.

The BSE Sensex closed at 83,734.25, up 283.29 points or 0.34 percent, while the NSE Nifty50 was quoted at 25,819.35, up 93.95 points or 0.37 percent.

Third Meeting of India-Cambodia Joint Working Group on Trade and Investment (JWGTI) Held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Tata Steel, ITC, Axis Bank, RIL, and M&M were the Sensex basket’s top gainers, increasing up to 2.8%. In contrast, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Eternal, Adani Ports, HCLTech, and TCS were among the biggest laggards, trading down up to 1.6%.

In broader markets, the Nifty MidCap 100 index rose 0.5%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 index rose 0.54 percent.

Meanwhile, the fear index India VIX, which measures market volatility, was down 3.5% at Wednesday’s closing.

Among industries, the Nifty Metal index rose 1.33 percent, the Nifty PSU Bank index rose 1.3%, and the Nifty FMCG rose 1.2%. The Nifty IT index, however, fell 1.23 percent.
