Stock market close highlights, Friday, July 25, 2025: Indian stock markets closed considerably lower on Friday due to weakness in the Bajaj twins (Bajaj Finance and Bajaj Finserv) and other heavyweight stocks.
The BSE Sensex closed at 81,463.09, down 721 points or 0.88 percent, while the NSE Nifty50 stood at 24,837, down 225 points or 0.9%.
Top laggards on the BSE included the Bajaj brothers, Power Grid, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, and Trent. Sun Pharma was the only winner.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap index declined 1.61 percent, while the Nifty SmallCap index fell 2.1%.
Selling was evident across the board, with the exception of Nifty Pharma (up 0.54%). On the other hand, Nifty Auto fell 1.27 percent, Nifty IT 1.42 percent, Nifty Metal 1.64 percent, Nifty Realty 0.99 percent, Nifty Financial Services 0.91 percent, and Nifty FMCG 0.9%.
India VIX, which measures market volatility in the domestic market, closed at 11.28, up 5.15 percent.
