Stock Market Highlights on Friday, May 15, 2026: The Nifty50 and Sensex fell owing to late-day selling after the domestic currency hit a new low versus the US dollar and crude oil prices surged.
The Nifty50 closed 46.10 points, or 0.19 percent, lower at 23,643.50, while the Sensex fell 160.73 points, or 0.21 percent, to 75,237.99.
The Nifty50 index’s major losers included Hindalco Industries, Eternal, and UltraTech Cement.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and the Nifty SmallCap ended 0.45% and 0.61 percent lower, respectively.
The worst-hit sectors were Nifty Metal, Nifty Realty, and Nifty Oil and Gas. Meanwhile, the Nifty IT and Nifty Media rallied the most.
The May future contract for Brent crude increased 2.9% to $108.8 per barrel on the Intercontinental Exchange.
