Today’s Stock Market News | Sensex, Nifty, and Share Prices Highlights: Indian benchmark index BSE Sensex ended the session slightly lower, while the NSE Nifty ended marginally higher, following a volatile session in which select heavyweights such as Reliance Industries, Infosys, and Bharti Airtel fell sharply. The BSE Sensex fell 33 points to 62,834, while the NSE Nifty 50 rose 5 points to reclaim the 18,700 level. The NSE Nifty MidCap 100 index gained 0.23%, while the NSE Nifty SmallCap 100 index gained 0.43%. Meanwhile, the sectoral indices were mixed. Nifty Metal and Nifty PSU Banks gained more than 1.2% intraday, while Nifty IT and Nifty Auto were the biggest sectoral laggards.
Biggest gainers, losers
Hindalco, Tata Steel, UPL, Coal India and ONGC were Nifty 50’s top gainers, with Hindalco surging over 4.5% in trade. Apollo Hospitals, Reliance Industries, Tata Motors, TechM and Britannia were the day’s biggest laggards, with Apollo Hospitals losing almost 2%.
