Stock Market Highlights, Tuesday, January 7, 2025: The major market indices finished Tuesday’s trading session in favorable territory. The 30-share Sensex rose 234.12 points, or 0.30 percent, to close at 78,199.11. Today, the index traded between 78,452.74 and 77,925.09.
NSE Nifty50 closed at 23,707.90, up 91.85 points or 0.39 percent. The Nifty50 reached a high of 23,795.20, while the low was 23,637.80.
32 out of 50 Nifty50 constituent stocks finished in the green, with ONGC, SBI Life, Tata Motors, HDFC Life, and Adani Enterprises leading the way with gains of up to 3.79 percent each. Trent, HCL Tech, TCS, Eicher Motors, and Tech Mahindra were among the 18 equities that finished in the red, with losses extending up to 2.20 per cent.
Small-cap stocks outperformed the larger market, with the Nifty Smallcap100 index rising 1.35 percent. Meanwhile, the Nifty Midcap100 index closed up 0.89 percent.
All sectoral indices, with the exception of Nifty IT, closed in the green on Tuesday. The Nifty Metal, certain healthcare, and media indices all concluded with advances of more than 1%.
