Today’s Stock Market News | Sensex, Nifty, and Share Prices Highlights: After a highly volatile trading session in which almost all sectors gave up their gains, Indian benchmark indices erased all intraday gains and ended in the red.
The BSE Sensex fell 664 points from its high for the day to close at 55,769, down 49 points or 0.09 percent. The Nifty50 closed at 16,584, a loss of 44 points or 0.26 percent. It reached an intraday high of 16,794 points.
The Nifty Auto index was the hardest hit, losing around 1.8%, while the Nifty Bank, Metal, PSU/Private Banks, and Realty indices all lost up to 1%. The Nifty IT index was the sole gainer, rising 0.45%. The BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices fell 1.45 per cent and 1.16 per cent, respectively
