On Saturday, Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida stated that the third round of financial assistance under the Subhadra Yojana would be credited directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts by the end of November. This phase will include everyone who was previously excluded, including Anganwadi staff.
Parida promised that the government intends to support about 1.20 crore women beneficiaries by the end of December, with a fourth phase also in the works. This measure is part of the Odisha government’s major campaign to empower women, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced on September 17, 2024.
Parida has clarified the inclusion of Anganwadi workers in the Subhadra Yojana, stating that all previously excluded individuals will receive support in the third phase.
Speaking to the media, Parida said, “A high-level committee meeting was held to address the issue of 2.67 lakh women beneficiaries who were initially rejected for various reasons. As per the decision taken in the meeting, a three-member committee comprising the Block Development Officer (BDO), Tehsildar, and District Social Welfare Officers (DSWs) will re-verify the details of all rejected applicants. This rigorous process aims to guarantee that no genuine beneficiary is left out. Our government’s goal is to ensure that every deserving beneficiary receives support under the scheme.”
