It is critical for your overall health to keep your blood healthy and clean. Red blood cells (RBCs) in the blood assist in the transport of oxygen to all parts of the body, which is essential for general functioning.
Anjali Mukerjee, a nutritionist, shared a post on Instagram about foods that can help with increasing haemoglobin levels, adding essential nutrients to the blood, and supporting healthy blood flow.
According to the expert, eating a vitamin C-rich diet increases the production of RBCs in the blood. “Eating a diet rich in iron, vitamin C, and other essential nutrients can help increase red blood cell production and improve oxygen flow throughout the body,” the nutritionist says.
- Iron-rich wheatgrass juice, blackstrap, molasses, kidney beans and tofu help increase blood haemoglobin levels.
- Leafy greens like spinach, kale, and broccoli are packed with essential nutrients for healthy blood.
- Orange juice, dates, honey, raisins, prune juice are all great sources of iron and protein for maintaining healthy blood.
- Herbs like amlaki, manjistha, and guduchi are potent blood purifiers and support healthy blood flow.
According to the nutritionist, incorporating iron-rich foods and herbs provides “optimal blood health” and supports your body’s natural defense mechanisms.
Aside from foods, exercising is another way to keep the blood healthy. Light exercise, such as jogging, swimming, brisk walking, and cycling, raises the heart rate, which not only lowers cholesterol levels but also flushes out any dirt or impurities in the heart and ensures that blood flows freely from the heart to the organs.
