Nikhat Zareen of India won gold in the 52kg final of the Women’s World Boxing Championships in Istanbul on Thursday, defeating Jutamas Jitpong of Thailand 5-0.
Nikhat becomes the fifth Indian woman boxer to win the world title, joining six-time champion M.C Mary Kom, Sarita Devi, Jenny R.L, and Lekha C.
Nikhat had earlier won a 5-0 decision over Brazil’s Caroline De Almeida in the 52kg semifinals on Wednesday.
