Cancer is a worldwide health problem that affects millions of people. Breast, ovarian, and lung cancer have been common in India, making it one of the world’s deadliest diseases.

Cancer can start almost anywhere in the body, which is made up of trillions of cells, according to the National Cancer Institute. Cancer occurs when some of the body’s cells grow uncontrollably and spread to other parts of the body. Human cells normally grow and multiply to form new cells as the body requires them. Cells die when they become old or damaged, and new cells replace them.

However, this order can be broken and abnormal or damaged cells can grow and multiply when they should not. The lump develops into a tumor, which can be cancerous.

Every year on February 4th, World Cancer Day is observed to raise awareness about cancer. Some lifestyle changes can be made to live a healthier life and prevent cancer.

STOP SMOKING

Tobacco use directly increases your risk of developing cancer. Tobacco contains carcinogenic substances that can harm your cells, particularly the lungs, throat, mouth, stomach, colon, kidneys, and pancreas.

PROTECT YOURSELF FROM UV

The sun’s ultraviolet radiation can have a significant impact on your skin. When exposed to UVA and UVB sun rays for an extended period of time, skin cells are damaged. Studies have shown that harmful rays are also present in night lamps and sun lamps. It is still controversial if sunscreen prevents all skin cancers, but you’re still better off applying sunscreen or sunblock every day. Stay in the shade as much as possible and avoiding the sun in the afternoon might help.

HEALTHY BODY WEIGHT

It is critical to maintain a healthy body weight in order to reduce the risk of cancer. Obesity has been linked to an increased risk of developing breast cancer after menopause, as well as brain cancer, colon cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, thyroid cancer, kidney cancer, and gallbladder cancer. Every day, consume a healthy amount of proteins, complex carbohydrates, fiber, and fats to keep yourself hydrated and nourished.

KEEP YOURSELF ACTIVE

Regular exercise and a nutritious diet can help to boost your immunity. It is recommended that you exercise for at least 2 hours and 30 minutes per week, or 30 minutes at least 5 days per week.

REGULAR MEDICAL CARE

You can check for any lumps at home on a regular basis. After consulting with a healthcare professional, have screenings performed.
