The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released the senior men’s international home fixture calendar for the 2026-27 season, which includes four visiting teams from the West Indies, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, and Australia in a variety of formats.
The Men in Blue will play 22 international matches in 17 cities, providing fans around the country the opportunity to watch top-tier international cricket.
Notably, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru will host international matches for the first time since October 2024, when India faced New Zealand in the third Test of a five-match series. The Karnataka State Cricket Association said on Saturday that the venue has got government approval to host Indian Premier League and international games.
Cricket at the arena was suspended in June 2024 due to a stampede during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) inaugural title celebrations, which resulted in 11 deaths and numerous injuries.
A big aspect of the news is that the Barsapara Cricket Stadium (ACA Stadium) in Guwahati will host its maiden Border-Gavaskar series Test. The venue hosted its first red-ball game since its inception in 2012, when South Africa toured India for a multi-format series, and the forthcoming BGT Test will be only the second red-ball game to be held there.
The season begins with the West Indies’ tour of India (September 27–October 17). The series will consist of three ODIs and five T20Is. The ODIs will be held in Trivandrum, Guwahati, and New Chandigarh, while the T20Is will take place in Lucknow, Ranchi, Indore, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.
From December 13 to 27, India will host Sri Lanka for a white-ball series consisting of three One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals. The ODIs will be staged in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad, while the T20Is will be played in Rajkot, Cuttack, and Pune.
In recent years, Delhi has endured severe air pollution during the winter, particularly affecting players during the 2017 India-Sri Lanka Test, when some experienced respiratory problems and nausea.
Last year, the BCCI had scheduled a Test against the West Indies in Kolkata in October and another against South Africa in Delhi in November. These testing were later rescheduled so that Delhi could host the match before pollution levels rose during Diwali.
Zimbabwe will visit India for a three-match one-day international series from January 3 to 9, with games planned in Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
The season will culminate with the highly regarded and greatly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy versus Australia from January 21 to March 3. The first match of the highly anticipated Test series will take place in Nagpur.
The series will then travel to Chennai, Guwahati, Ranchi, and Ahmedabad, providing an intriguing matchup between two of the best teams in international cricket.
