Bhubaneswar: Union Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi has instructed the Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) to set up around 550-bedded Covid facilities in 4 districts of Odisha, on the request of Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Joshi, in a letter to Pradhan on Wednesday, said that he has instructed the management of MCL to consider the request received from the latter on May 7 for organising the Covid facilities in Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Angul districts of Odisha.
Pradhan, in order to ramp up the medical infrastructure within the State for combating Covid-19, had sought the personal intervention of Joshi to implement the next additional measures with support from MCL:
i. Setting up of a temporary super specialty hospital with 150 oxygenated beds, ICU and Ventilator services in Sambalpur.
ii. Setting up of Covid Hospital with 50 oxygenated beds, ICU and Ventilator services in Vasundhara area of MCL, Sundargarh district.
iii. Provisioning of 50 oxygenated beds, ICU and Ventilator facilities at Brajrajnagar Covid Hospital, Jharsuguda district.
iv. Provisioning of 150 oxygenated beds, ICU and Ventilator facilities at Lakhanpur Covid Hospital, Jharsuguda district.
v. Provisioning of 150 oxygenated beds, ICU and Ventilator facilities at MCL Covid Hospital Talcher, Angul district.
Replying within the affirmative, Joshi said that it’s bounden responsibility of every particular person and every institution within the nation to rise to the occasion and lend their support to the Prime Minister of India in his efforts to contain spread of the pandemic and mitigate the sufferings of the people.
