Bhubaneswar: With a low-pressure area most likely to form over north Bay of Bengal on June 11, the rainfall activity in Odisha will start in the next 48 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated on Sunday.
The national weather agency further stated the low pressure will push the southwest monsoon into most parts of Odisha, which will trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall over the south and north coastal districts from June 10.
Because of heavy rainfall, the maximum day temperature will fall by 3-40C within the state from June 10 onwards.
In view of the heavy rainfall, IMD has issued yellow warning for the following districts.
June 7
Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur.
June 8
Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Balasore.
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Kalahandi.
June 9
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur.
June 10
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Puri, Ganjam, Kandhamal and Kalahandi.
