Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has greeted the people of Odisha on the auspicious occasion “Nuakhai” today, mentioned Nuakhai is not only a festival, it is the identity of our art, culture and tradition.
“I pray to Maa Samaleswari that may you all have a happy and prosperous life,” mentioned Patnaik in a video message shared on his Twitter handle.
He also appealed to the people to follow COVID Appropriate Behaviour while celebrating the festival.
“Nuakhai Juhar! Greetings to everyone on this auspicious occasion. On Nuakhai we laud the outstanding efforts of our industrious farmers and their role in nation building. I pray for everyone’s good health and well-being,” he tweeted.
Apart from, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, among others, greeted the people of the state on the occasion via a video message.
Nuakhai, the popular agrarian festival, is observed in all western Odisha districts to welcome the new rice of the season. Amidst the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, the festival is being observed in Sambalpur, Sundergarh, Kalahandi, Balangir, Bargarh, Subarnapur, Deogarh, Jharsuguda and Boudh in a low-key manner.
As per the schedule, Nabanna, the newly harvested rice, was offered to Goddess Samaleswari, the presiding deity of Sambalpur district, by 10.25 am.
