Mercedes-Benz has launched the all-new three-row GLB SUV in India, with prices starting at Rs 63.8 lakh ex-showroom. The Mercedes-Benz GLB is available in three variants, with the prices listed below. The new Mercedes-Benz GLB, which is sold as a CBU, is the carmaker’s second seven-seater offering in India after the GLS.
Variant | Price |
GLB 200 Progressive Line | Rs 63.8 lakh |
GLB 220 Progressive Line | Rs 66.8 lakh |
GLB 220 4Matic AMG Line | Rs 69.8 lakh |
The new GLB has a familiar Mercedes look to it, more like a scaled-down version of the GLS. The GLB gets the same upright front fascia as the GLS, as well as a flat bonnet and roof line, large, squarish headlights, squared wheel arches, and tail lamps.
The design of the front grille varies depending on the variant; the Progressive Line has a dual slat grille, faux skid plates, chrome trims, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The GLB AMG Line receives a single-slat grille, restyled bumpers, and 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.
The interior of the GLB is similar to that of the Mercedes GLA, with two 10.25-inch screens, one for the infotainment system and the other for the instrument console. Other features include the MBUX infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, the ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice prompt, wireless charging, powered front seats, ambient lighting, a panoramic roof, and parking assist, among others.
The Mercedes-Benz GLB is powered by one petrol and one diesel engine. The petrol engine is a 1.3-litre turbocharged mill that produces 160bhp and 250Nm of peak torque via a 7-speed automatic transmission that drives the front wheels. The petrol engine is the same as in the A-Class sedan.
The diesel engine, on the other hand, is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder motor that produces 187bhp and 400Nm of torque through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Mercedes-Benz GLB diesel is available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive via the carmaker’s 4Matic AWD system.
