Tata Motors has revealed the Safari Red Dark Edition, which is available in two variants: seven and six seats. The former costs Rs 22.61 lakh, while the latter costs Rs 22.71 lakh ex-showroom. Tata is known for releasing limited editions such as the Dark Edition and the Kaziranga Edition, but the main difference in the new lineup is that it includes new safety features such as the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). In addition, the 2-litre diesel engine complies with BS6 Phase 2. Bookings are now available at Tata Motors dealerships for a nominal fee of Rs 30,000.
Tata Safari Red Dark Edition: Safety features
Both the Red Dark Edition trims, the XZ+/ XZA+ and XZA+ (O), are based on the top-of-the-line standard Safari and include safety features such as six airbags and a 360-degree camera. The most significant change is the addition of ADAS, a first for a Tata vehicle. Forward and rear collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alerts, and other features are included in the ADAS suite.
Tata Safari Red Dark Edition: Interiors and cabin features
Tata Motors upgraded the standard Safari’s infotainment system to a 10.25-inch screen after receiving customer feedback. Previously, the standard Safari had an 8.8-inch floating display, but the company has now updated the regular range as well. The Safari Red Dark Edition receives a completely new digital instrument cluster with a 7-inch multi-information display. It still has a JBL 9-speaker system, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger, ventilated first and second rows, a 6-way powered driver’s seat, and a 4-way electrically adjustable front passenger’s seat, among other things.
As a limited edition model, the Safari’s dashboard is all black, with Piano Black accents on the steering wheel, door handles, and center console. The Red Dark Edition Safari adds quilted leather upholstery in Carnelian red to the cabin, and the headrests feature the #Dark logo.
Tata Safari Red Dark Edition: Exterior design
Sticking to the Dark theme, the limited edition Safari is all-black, but it is distinguished by red accents on the Piano Black front grille. The 18-inch alloy wheels on the Red Dark Safari are Charcoal Black and have red brake calipers.
Tata Safari Red Dark Edition: Engine
The Safari Red Dark is powered by a tried-and-true 2-litre diesel engine that produces 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. The engine comes from Fiat and is used in the Jeep Compass, Meridian, and MG Hector. Both the 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmissions are retained in the Safari Red Dark. The latter is supplied by Hyundai. The SUV comes with a three-year or one-lakh-kilometer warranty as standard.
