Another Western Disturbance Likely To Trigger Rains In Odisha From Sunday

Following a two-day lull, another western disturbance is expected to bring rain to various parts of Odisha beginning March 26.

In eight Odisha districts, a yellow alert has been issued for Kala Baisakhi. Mayurbhanj, Baleshwar, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Malkangiri have all received alerts.

Rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds blowing at 30 kmph to 40 kmph are expected in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur on March 26.

The intensity of rain is expected to increase from March 27, the weather office forecast, adding that 11 coastal districts will be affected on March 11. One or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj will witness thunderstorm with lightening and gusty surface wind reaching 30-40 kmph.

Many places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur districts will experience light to moderate rain or thundershower.

Lightning and thundershowers are expected in the afternoon, according to the IMD forecast. Under the influence of Kala Baisakhi, the rains will continue for the next three to four days.
