On Monday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional center in here issued yellow rain and thunderstorm warnings for 13 Odisha districts. According to the MeT offices, rain with thunder and lightning is expected in Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts over the next 24 hours.
The IMD predicts that wind speeds in the aforementioned districts will range between 30 and 40 kilometers per hour.
“Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are likely to occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts,” the IMD said in a bulletin.
“Light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at a few places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Nabarangpur, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada and Bolangir districts,” the bulletin added.
In the last 24 hours, the Nayagarh district received 28 mm of rain, Bhavanipatna received 20 mm, and Daringabadi received 12 mm. On the other hand, on March 30, another western disturbance is expected to form, bringing more rain.
