Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will lead a high-level delegation to Japan beginning April 4, 2023, in a continuing effort to be the country’s leading investment destination.
The delegation includes Pratap Keshari Deb, Minister of Industries, MSME, and Energy; Pradeep Kumar Jena, Chief Secretary; Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary, Industries Department; Manoj Mishra, Principal Secretary, E&IT Department; and Bhupendar Poonia, Managing Director, IPICOL.
VK Pandian, Secretary to the Chief Minister (5T), and Vineel Krishna, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister, are also accompanying the Chief Minister on his trip to Japan.
A business delegation from Odisha will accompany the Chief Minister to explore opportunities for potential collaboration with Japanese business houses in the steel, aluminum, textile, food and sea-food processing, green hydrogen, and green ammonia sectors.
The high-level delegation will meet with potential investors one-on-one, host the Odisha Business Meet Tokyo 2023, and hold an interactive meeting with the Odia Diaspora in Japan during their visit.
The delegation will also visit Kimitsu Steel Works and Nippon Steel Corporation’s R&D Center. The delegation will also look into opportunities for collaboration in the areas of skill development and high-tech start-ups.
The state delegation will also hold a roundtable discussion in Kyoto on tourism collaboration opportunities between Japan and Odisha, with a focus on Buddhist and eco-tourism sites in Odisha. Furthermore, in light of Odisha’s significant strides in the development of the sports ecosystem, it is planned to investigate possible collaboration in training and development of sports talent in Odisha.
The Chief Minister’s visit to Japan reaffirms the state government’s commitment to promoting Odisha as a favorable investment destination and strengthening emerging economic and cultural ties with Japan. Japan was a country partner at the Make in Odisha 2022 conclave, and the Ambassador to Japan in India attended the plenary session and invited the Chief Minister to visit Japan.
