According to the most recent decision, additional remuneration has been announced for folk artists who perform three three-hour concerts in a day. The artist group’s leader would be paid Rs 1,000 per day and other members will be paid Rs 800 per day. In addition, the artists will be charged Rs 300 per person per day for their transportation and food.

Artists performing ‘dasakarja’ theater were previously paid Rs 200, but now a two-person team would be paid Rs 2400, according to the increased remuneration.

Similarly, performers performing Pala were previously paid Rs 350 every performance, but now a troupe of six persons would be paid Rs 6,800 for a single performance.

An artiste in the field of horse dance was previously paid Rs 350; today, an eight-member horse dance team would be paid Rs 9,000 for one performance.

Previously, artists were paid Rs 400 for a performance of folk dance or folk song; today, a team of eight persons would be paid Rs 9,000 for a single performance.

The Chief Minister expressed hope that this initiative will aid in the preservation of folk art and the promotion of artists.

The state government of Odisha has taken numerous innovative initiatives to encourage traditional arts in the state. Artists’ unions have been created at the block, district, and state levels since 2009. The State Information and Public Relations Department, the Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department, and other departments organize and promote folk art programs.
