The emergence of yet another cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal on August 25 is expected to intensify rain across Odisha beginning Tuesday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its mid-day advisory on Monday.
The meteorological office has issued a yellow warning for heavy rain in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, and Ganjam on Tuesday. It has also issued a thunderstorm and lightning warning for Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Balasore, Gajapati, and Ganjam.
On August 23, heavy rain may fall in a few areas in the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, and Keonjhar. A yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning has also been issued for one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Khurda, Puri and Ganjam. Simultaneously, the entire state may see mild to moderate rain with thundershowers.
On August 24, heavy rain may fall in one or two areas in the districts of Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Angul, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Boudh. Thunderstorms may occur in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur.
Most regions in north interior Odisha and many places in the rest of the state may get light to moderate rain or thundershowers.
On August 25, heavy rain is expected in one or two spots in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, and Nayagarh. Furthermore, thunderstorms with lightning are possible in Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Angul districts.
