The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has issued yellow warnings for heat wave conditions in as many as 11 districts of Odisha for the next 3 days.
The districts of Nayagarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Dhenkanal are expected to have extreme heat wave conditions during the day and extreme humidity at night, as per the IMD prediction.
The mercury will rise three to five degrees Celsius above average, resulting in extremely humid weather for the next three days in both the interior and coastal regions of Odisha. The Regional MeT Center has advised that there won’t be any changes to the weather until April 6.
“Due to prevailing mainly Northwesterly/Westerly dry air and high solar insolation, consequently maximum temperature (day temperature) likely to be more than 40°C at many places over the districts of Odisha and likely to be above normal by 3 to 5°C over the districts of Odisha till 6,” read the statement issued by IMD.
Meanwhile, IMD has advised people to take precautionary measures while going out during the daytime between 11 am and 3 pm.
