After the severe election violence in Khallikote, Ganjam district, Odisha, the Chief Minister condemned the incident which claimed one life. Up to eight persons have been arrested in connection with the violence.
Taking to his X handle, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wrote: “Deeply disturbed and saddened at the very unfortunate and tragic incident of violence in Khallikote area. Such incidents of violence have no place in our democracy and civil society. I strongly condemn this incident. My deepest condolence to the family who has lost their loved one and praying for early recovery of those who sustained injuries. I am sure police will take strong and exemplary action against the perpetrators of this heinous crime.”

Meanwhile, political violence has been reported in Sri Krishna Sharanpur, which is under the jurisdiction of the Khallikote police station.
According to reports, workers from the BJP and the BJD have clashed. Two groups argued over the placement of the poster on the walls. Seven persons on both sides were injured, and one person died. However, all of the injured were admitted to Berhampur MKCG Hospital. There has been a lot of resentment among people in Khallikote.
According to reports, the two parties clashed while waving the banner in the village. Seven people on both sides were critically hurt in the deadly incident. However, a man named Dilip Pahan died late at night. Another crucial person has been moved to Bhubaneswar.
As the police did not take any action against the accused in this occurrence, the road was closed in front of the Khallikote police station on behalf of the families of the deceased and the injured.
