Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Odisha government’s flagship project, Subhadra Yojana, on Tuesday at a special event at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Odisha Governor Raghubar Das, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram, and other MPs and ministers attended the programme.
Over 70,000 women are participating in the launch program. Their excitement knows no bounds, as they are due to receive their first instalment of Rs 5,000 today.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced that around 74 lakh women had already registered for the Subhadra Yojana.
Notably, qualified beneficiaries of the Subhadra Yojana who registered their names by September 15 will receive their first instalment today (September 17).
Eligible women recipients aged 21 to 60 would receive Rs 50,000 during the next five years.
For the next five years, the state government would deposit Rs 10,000 in the beneficiaries’ accounts through DBT in two installments of Rs 5,000 each on Rakhi Purnima and International Women’s Day (March 8).
