Toyota Hilux is the only other lifestyle pickup truck on sale in India besides Isuzu D-Max V-Cross. Although the Hilux is not a popular vehicle in our country, it is well-known for its durability around the world. The Japanese automaker has now unveiled a special model of the ladder-on-frame truck in India, the Hilux Black model, which is priced at Rs 37.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
Toyota is now offering the Hilux in two variants: High and Black Edition, which are priced equally. Deliveries of the Hilux are scheduled to begin later this month. As predicted, the Hilux Black Edition has interior and external visual upgrades over the basic model, in keeping with its name.
Toyota Hilux Black Edition: Blacked-out exterior
The Hilux Black Edition has an all-new black-themed appearance that commands attention on the road. Key design enhancements include a prominent black front radiator grille, a powerful bonnet line, and 18-inch black alloy wheels with unique hub caps. Additional design elements, such as black ORVM covers, door handles, fender garnish, and fuel lid garnish, contribute to its sleek and aggressive appearance.
A sporty Under Run on the front bumper adds to its dynamic appearance. Sharp, swept-back LED headlights and LED rear combo lamps round off the sleek and luxurious look, providing a distinct lighting identity. The all-black color is the newest addition to the Hilux’s color pallet, which now includes five options: Emotional Red, White Pearl Crystal Shine, Silver Metallic, Super White, and Grey Metallic.
The Hilux Black Edition’s inside matches its exterior, which is draped in a similar dark theme, however Toyota has yet to publicly disclose photographs of the cabin interiors to back up the claim.
Toyota Hilux Black Edition: Features
The Hilux comes with an eight-inch infotainment display that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for easy connectivity. Other convenience features include an eight-way powered driver seat, cruise control, an electrochromic IRVM for automatic dimming, and a rear parking camera with audible display for improved visibility.
To improve convenience, the Hilux Black Edition includes Smart Entry with an Engine Push Start/Stop Button, automated headlights, dual-zone temperature control, and electrically adjustable and retractable ORVMs, which are now painted in black to match the new look.
Safety is a top priority in the Hilux Black Edition, equipped with seven airbags, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TC), Electronic Differential Lock (EDL), and Automatic Limited Slip Differential (ALSD) for exceptional handling and control. Hill Assist Control (HAC) and Downhill Assist Control (DAC) further enhance stability on inclines and challenging terrains. Additionally, front parking sensors provide added convenience in tight spaces, ensuring a secure and confident driving experience.
Toyota Hilux Black Edition: Powertrain specs
The Hilux Black Edition is powered by the same 2.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine, which produces 201 horsepower and 500 Nm of peak torque. This unit is paired exclusively with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. A 4×4 drivetrain with a low-range transfer case distributes power to all four wheels simultaneously. An electronic differential lock and automated limited slip differential improve the vehicle’s off-road performance.
