Weather updates: SRC Issues Advisory As IMD Predicts Temperature Rise In Odisha

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts a gradual rise in temperatures across Odisha of 3-5°C during the next 4-5 days. In response, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) sent a recommendation to district collectors.

The districts at risk are Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, and Balangir, where temperatures have already hit 37°C or higher today.

Temperatures in these districts are expected to rise further during the following five days, reaching 40°C or higher in certain areas.

District Collectors have been directed to distribute the warning to the public. According to the SRC’s caution, while most individuals can handle the heat, it can endanger vulnerable populations such as infants, the elderly, and the sick.

The public is reminded to take the required measures, particularly when outdoors in the afternoon.

The SRC has also advised all District Collectors to constantly monitor the issue and respond appropriately.
