The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the seat matrix for MBBS and BDS admission in the first phase of NEET UG counselling. Candidates can view the NEET UG Round 1 Seat Matrix at mcc.nic.in.
This year, the MCC will hold four rounds of online NEET UG counselling for all India quota seats, including those at central and deemed universities: round one, round two, round three, and a stray vacancy round.
As many as 12.36 lakh candidates who qualified NEET UG will compete for 1,15,900 MBBS seats in government, private, and other medical colleges across the country. The total number of medical seats for admission to MBBS programmes compared to the number of qualified candidates indicates that only one out of 10 will obtain a seat in the medical course.
The NEET UG counselling seat matrix for the 15% all India quota (AIQ) categorises the 775 medical colleges delivering MBBS across the country based on management type. While more than 400 government colleges are on the list, 32 private colleges, 13 government (society) colleges, 44 society-run colleges, and over 250 trust-run colleges will provide MBBS programs.
Also, seven medical colleges have no sanctioned MBBS seats. These include Gayathri Vidya Parishad Institute Of Health Care And Medical Technology, Visakhapattanam, Andhra Pradesh (Society); Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Institute Of Medical Sciences And Research, Raipur, Chhattisgarh (Trust); Hamdard Institute Of Medical Sciences And Research, Guru Ravidas Marg, Delhi (Society); Swaminarayan Institute Of Medical Sciences and Research, Kalol, Gandhinagar, Gujarat (Trust); Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum, Karnataka (Trust); Index Medical College Hospital And Research Centre, Indore, Madhya Pradesh (Trust); Geetanjali Medical College And Hospital, Udaipur, Rajasthan (Trust); Father Colombo Institute Of Medical Sciences, Warangal (Trust)Uttar Pradesh and National Capital Region Institute Of Medical Sciences, Meerut (Society).
The NEET UG seat allotment results for round one will be announced on July 31, 2025. Once the results are released, the shortlisted candidates must report to their respective institutes between August 1 and August 6, 2025. Finally, data verification by the institutes is slated for August 7–8, 2025.
The MCC letter further ordered all participating institutes and colleges to strictly stick to the approved time schedule. Given the limited time available for conducting the counselling process, all institutes/colleges are instructed to regard Saturdays, Sundays, and Gazetted Holidays as ordinary working days.
