The National Testing Agency (NTA) will stop online registration for the Joint CSIR-UGC NET December 2025 on Monday. The exam body has extended the deadline from October 24 to October 27. Candidates who have not yet applied can register at the official website, csirnet.nta.nic.in.
The CSIR-UGC NET is used to determine Indian nationals’ eligibility for the award of a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), employment as an Assistant Professor, and admission to PhD programs at Indian institutions and colleges.
According to the official schedule, candidates can pay the examination fee until October 28, while the application correction window will be open from October 30 to November 1, 2025. The CSIR-UGC NET will be conducted on December 18, 2025, in two shifts — from 9 am to 12 noon and 3 pm to 6 pm.
Eligibility criteria
Candidates must be Indian citizens to apply. The upper age limit for JRF applicants is 30 years as of October 1, 2025, while there is no age limit for those applying for Assistant Professor or PhD admission.
In terms of educational credentials, General/Unreserved/EWS candidates must have at least 55% in their Master’s degree or comparable qualification from an accredited university. Those in the OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC/ST, PwD, and Third Gender categories must have at least 50%.
Candidates in the final year of their Master’s program or awaiting results are also eligible to apply. Additionally, those with a four-year bachelor’s degree must have received at least 75% or an equivalent grade.

Step 2: Click on the ‘CSIR NET Dec 2025 Registration’ link available on the homepage.
Step 3: Register yourself using valid credentials and proceed to fill out the application form.
Step 4: Upload the required documents, pay the applicable fee, and submit the form.
Step 5: Download and print the confirmation page for future reference.
The Joint CSIR-UGC NET December 2025 will be held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode for a variety of science fields, making it one of India’s most important eligibility exams for research and teaching roles.
