The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued thunderstorm warnings in numerous Odisha districts, predicting lightning, hail, and strong winds.
Mayurbhanj, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, and Balasore have been issued an orange alert, while Gajapati, Ganjam, and numerous other districts have received a yellow caution.
“Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and Hail along with gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 50-60 kmph) is likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Sundergarh, Keonjhar & Balasore”, read the IMD’s prediction for tomorrow.
Besides, a yellow warning has been issued for Gajapati and Ganjam districts, where thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places. Additionally, multiple districts including Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Sundergarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Deogarh.
On March 29, the regional meteorological office issued an orange warning for thunderstorms with lightning and strong surface wind (wind speeds of up to 50-60 kmph) in isolated areas across Mayurbhanj districts.
Furthermore, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speeds of up to 40-50 kmph) in isolated areas across the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jaipur.
