Stock Market Highlights on Wednesday, April 29, 2026: The Nifty50 and Sensex lost major intraday gains as Brent crude maintained its surge despite stalled US-Iran talks and the UAE’s withdrawal from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
The Nifty50 settled 0.76 percent, or 181.95 points, higher at 24,177.65, while the Sensex closed 0.79 percent, or 609.45 points, higher at 77,496.36.
The leading gainers on the Nifty50 index were ITC, Tech Mahindra, and Reliance Industries.
Broader markets closed on a mixed note. The Nifty MidCap ended 0.07 percent lower, while the Nifty SmallCap closed 0.65 percent higher.
Sectorally, the Nifty FMCG and Nifty Realty outperformed, while the Nifty Construction Durable and Nifty Media lagged.
Brent crude increased 3.01 percent to $114.60 per barrel on the Intercontinental Exchange as the opening of the Strait of Hormuz is postponed due to stalled US-Iran talks, while the UAE announced its resignation from OPEC effective May 1.
