The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) has announced the NEET UG 2026 Round 1 seat allotment results on its official website, mcc.nic.in. Candidates who participated in the first round of counseling can view the allotment list and download their seat allocation information via the MCC portal. Round 1 of counseling includes seats from the MCC counseling process, including 15% All India Quota seats, AIIMS, JIPMER, Central Universities, deemed universities, and other participating institutions. MCC’s most recent schedule, revised on August 20, has altered the previous timeline.
Candidates assigned seats in Round 1 must complete the necessary reporting or admission process by August 31, 2026, and institutes will check the details of joined candidates on September 1.

What happens after allotment?
This year’s primary change in NEET UG counseling is the implementation of the Freeze and Float mechanism, as well as increased usage of online document verification. A candidate who is pleased with their assigned seat can select Freeze, but a contestant who want to compete in the next round for an upgrade can select Float. MCC implemented the technique to reduce the frequency of physical trips to medical colleges.
A Freeze candidate accepts the given seat and must report to the designated institute within the timeframe specified to complete admission and document verification. Candidates who choose Float and seek an upgrade are not required to physically report at this level. Their documents can be verified online by the assigned institute while they are still eligible for consideration in the following round.
What’s new in NEET UG counselling 2026?
One of the most significant improvements this year is the online verification process for candidates seeking upgrades. MCC has also implemented an online resignation system, which allows applicants to resign from qualified authorized seats without having to pay a separate physical visit to the institution. The modifications aim to reduce travel and administrative work during subsequent counseling rounds.
Candidates should not, however, believe that all admissions-related activities are entirely online. Those who freeze a seat must still report to the designated college and meet the institution’s entrance standards. Even if only scanned copies are supplied online, original documents should be kept on hand.
Candidates should only follow the most recent amended timetable and information bulletin accessible on mcc.nic.in, as MCC has made many changes to the Round 1 timeline this month. The amended UG counseling bulletin dated August 20 and the revised Round 1 schedule on August 19 are currently listed on the official MCC website.
