Cuttack: BJD leader Subash Singh today took oath as the Mayor of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC).
Sangramjit Nayak, Director of Municipal Administration, administered Singh the oath.
Singh had defeated his nearest rival Congress’ Giribala Behera by a margin of 45,206 votes in the CMC Mayor election held last month.
He had received a total of 1,13,562 votes in his favour while Behera bagged 68,356 votes. BJP candidate Sritam Das was placed third securing 49,223 votes.
The BJD had registered comprehensive victory by winning the Mayor post and 38 corporator seats out of a total of 59 in the CMC polls.
Congress and BJP won eight and seven corporator seats, respectively. Independent candidate secured the remaining six corporator seats.
