The Odisha Higher Education Department has urged all state public universities, government agencies, and aided institutions to use and promote the newly launched “Shaktishree” mobile application, which aims to improve student safety and support services across campuses.
Director of Higher Education Kaliprasanna Mahapatra has issued an order for institutions to guarantee extensive awareness and active student onboarding on the digital platform. The project aims to improve student safety measures, counseling access, grievance redressal processes, and general student well-being in higher education institutions throughout the state.
According to the official circular, the “Shaktishree” app was created as a comprehensive student-centric digital platform. It includes elements like SOS emergency assistance, safety check-in options, access to university announcements, counseling support services, and a structured mechanism for addressing student issues in real time.
The department has directed that all eligible students under its authority be urged to download and register for the application. Institutions have been directed to take proactive steps to increase enrolment and engagement with the platform.
To raise awareness, college administrators and registrars are recommended to use a variety of communication channels, such as classroom announcements, orientation programs, official notices, and institutional WhatsApp groups.
The Higher Education Department has further urged all institutions to implement the directive on a priority basis to ensure effective adoption of the application across Odisha’s higher education ecosystem.
