Former Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf (Retd) died in a hospital in Dubai after a long illness, according to Pakistan’s Geo News.
According to The Express Tribune, Musharraf, 79, was suffering from amyloidosis, a rare disease caused by a buildup of an abnormal protein called amyloid in organs and tissues throughout the body.
According to Geo News, the military ruler was receiving treatment at American Hospital Dubai.
Following the imposition of martial law in the country in 1999, he assumed the position of Chief Executive and served as President of Pakistan from 2001 to 2008.
In 1947, the former president’s family relocated from New Delhi to Karachi. He enlisted in the Pakistan Army in 1964 and attended the Army Staff and Command College in Quetta.
Pervez Musharraf served as the tenth President of Pakistan.
