India vs New Zealand T20I 2023: New Zealand wins the first T20I by 21 runs. Ranchi, Jan 27 (PTI): Opener Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell both hit half-centuries as New Zealand cruised to a 21-run victory in the first T20I of the three-match series.
Conway hit a 35-ball 52, while Mitchell hit an unbeaten 59 off 30 balls. Washington Sundar (2/22) took two wickets for India, while Kuldeep Yadav (1/20), Shivam Mavi (1/19), and Arshdeep Singh (1/51) each dismissed one batter. Washington later scored his first T20I half-century, 50 off 28 balls, and in-form batter Suryakumar Yadav scored a 34-ball 47, but it wasn’t enough. Mitchell Santner, a left-arm spinner, dominated India in the middle overs, giving away just 11 runs in his four overs and dismissing two batters.
