The remarkable young talents from Mumbai, developed under South Mumbai Chess Academy (SMCA), have won the Singapore Chess Championships in a game-changing victory that has reverberated throughout the world of chess.
The Singapore Chess Federation’s prestigious annual chess meet saw strong competition, with 600 players from 14 nations taking part.
Ahaan Kataruka emerged as the uncontested champion, taking gold in the hotly contested Under-8 category. Ahaan’s incredible performance, which included a perfect record of 7 wins in 7 games, demonstrated his unrivaled strategic acumen, outstanding computations, and photographic recall. His ability to convert advantages into accurate, winning positions has solidified him as a dominant force on the global chess scene.
Nova Juyal won a spectacular silver medal in the Under-8 division, earning an incredible 6 out of 7 points in a show of unrivaled poise and strategic genius. Nova’s cool manner and tactical acumen cemented the SMCA’s reputation as a breeding place for chess prodigies.
Aashrita Guttula won the bronze medal in the Under-12 category, giving India yet another victory. Aashrita’s persistent focus and exceptional endgame skills highlighted the profound potential fostered at SMCA, adding another chapter to India’s worldwide chess success record.
Ananya Khadelwal earned a well-deserved spot on the renowned awards list, solidifying SMCA’s position as a chess training powerhouse. The Indian contingent also included Advaet Agarwal.
Expressing delight, chief coach FM Balaji Guttula remarked, “These young talents exhibit the potential to ascend to the echelons of India’s young grandmasters.
