The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will release the books for Classes 3 and 6 under the new syllabus in April and May, respectively. The Council has asked the parents and students to be patient and not to get worried.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) ordered earlier this week that all associated schools use the revised syllabus and texts for Classes 3 and 6 starting in the 2024–25 academic year. This news regarding the textbook releases for this month and May follows.

The NCERT added that it is working to ensure that school supplies arrive on schedule, noting that so far 33 lakh books for Classes 1, 2, 7, 8, 10, and 12 have been printed and distributed to bookstores. The Council also stated that while books for classes 3, 4, 5, 9, and 11 will be on sale by the end of this month, those for class 6 won’t be until May.

NCERT has decided to release the books for the two classes under the new syllabus because Class 3 and Class 6 correspond to the beginning of the preparatory and middle stages, respectively, and because they required revision to bring them into compliance with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE).

In order to facilitate a smooth transition to the new syllabus, schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) can use the “bridge programme” for Class 6 and the “brief guidelines” for Class 3.
