On May 22, the National Testing Agency (NTA) launched an online window for candidates to claim examination fee refunds for the National Eligibility and Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026.
According to an official statement issued jointly by the NTA and the National Medical Commission (NMC), a dedicated facility is now available on the official NEET UG registration portal at neet.nta.nic.in. Candidates who are qualified for an examination fee refund can now log in with their credentials and provide their desired bank account information. This cash settlement follows a period of unparalleled volatility around the medical admission exam. The re-examination is being conducted after the cancellation of the earlier NEET UG 2026 exam held on May 3 amid allegations of a paper leak and other irregularities. Over 22 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the re-test on June 21.
The NTA has emphasised that the window is strictly time-bound. The online facility, which went live on May 22 will remain operational only until May 27 up to 11.50 pm.
The agency has issued a cautionary comment on the accuracy of the material provided. Once a candidate uploads their banking information through the portal, the information is considered final. The NTA has specifically indicated that no further revisions, corrections, or edits would be authorized following final submission.
Required documents and details
To ensure a seamless transaction and eliminate errors, candidates are required to fill out specific banking details. The mandatory fields include:
– The Account Holder’s Name (as it appears in the bank records)
– Core Banking Account Number
– Bank Name
– IFSC Code
Additionally, the NTA has provided an optional provision allowing candidates to upload a scanned copy of a cancelled cheque to verify the accuracy of the account details and avoid transaction failures.
Warning against bank chargebacks
The NTA has clearly cautioned applicants and parents against filing a “chargeback” claim with their individual banks for the NEET UG 2026 examination fee.
Candidates who have technical difficulties or anomalies when browsing the refund link can contact the official NTA helpdesk. The agency has established a dedicated support team, which may be reached at +91-11-40759000 or via email at neetug2026@nta.ac.in.
