The Odisha Assembly was adjourned until 4 p.m. today amid ongoing demonstrations by opposition parties over the SCB Medical College and Hospital fire disaster.
The Speaker, Surama Padhy, adjourned the House many times owing to interruptions. Opposition members from the Congress and BJD protested, demanding the resignation of Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling following the fire at SCB Medical College and Hospital, which claimed the lives of 12 people.
The Speaker first adjourned the House till 11:30 a.m., then 12:30 p.m., and finally 4 p.m. The opposition has been protesting since March 17, claiming carelessness and demanding accountability. Meanwhile, an all-party meeting has been scheduled to address the matter.
